Hope On, Dream On

Happy Tuesday!

Last Tuesday, I wrote a blog post entitled Ordinary Days vs. And Extraordinary God inspired by emily p. freeman. She is a blogger and author of the book Simply Tuesday which is coming out in August. Her writing has always inspired me and this particular post did just that. Called Permission to be Unremarkable Today, it points out that painful days give way to ordinary days and there is comfort in that.

(I apologize for how many links are in the last paragraph haha!)

Aside from emily p. freeman, Pinterest does it again at inspiration. This little quote stuck out to me like a sore thumb. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a sore spot in my soul nonetheless.

How often the busy days and activity filled evenings leave no time for day dreaming. Of course we cannot sit around, especially as wives and moms and working women...But there is something to be said about the dreamer in us all. That little girl, locked in a tower, dreaming of her prince. The young woman, planning her future home. The momma, imagining the children to come....But what about the other aspirations we used to have? When the sky was the limit and the only thing to hold us back was our choice not to follow through. We get bogged down with thoughts like, There's not time, there's no money,  and what use is that?

How sad. That our Father would inspire our hearts to dream and we would turn away from the delights of our soul. There are many articles and blogs out there that will tell you to stop day dreaming- it's dangerous and cause for idleness. I'm not necessarily saying that isn't true. But my heart tells me that Jesus very much wants those little girls in towers to keep dreaming of the adventures to come. We are not finished here. We have eternity.

Dreaming is a hopeful thing. No matter the situation, we have the ability to dream of better days to come and hope for greater things.

Faith gives us the ability to dream. We may feel stuck, stranded or stagnant but we know we will not stay there.

We hope on. We dream on...

Take time to remember your dreams today and pray about them!

"Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4
He will put desires in your heart and He will fulfill them. Too often we blow off things that God Himself has put in us as silly or a waste of time. Maybe you aspire to try something new, or join a certain ministry, but think that it is foolish or that you wouldn't be good at it. Don't let the devil lie to you! The Holy Spirit presses things on your heart for a reason. Pray about it and perhaps, it is a God given dream after all:).

Have a wonderful day!
